Guandu Map Poster & Print
Guandu lies within the vast municipality of Chongqing, in the hilly country of the Sichuan Basin's eastern rim. Like most places in this region, it is shaped less by planning than by terrain. On a map the streets twist to follow contour lines, climbing and dropping around small hills, and the town's outline stretches along the easiest ground rather than spreading evenly.
The surrounding landscape is one of rolling hills, terraced fields, small reservoirs and scattered hamlets linked by narrow roads. Newer construction tends to appear as larger blocks and wider roads at the edges, while the older core is tighter and more irregular. The result is a map with a strong sense of movement, full of curves and switchbacks.
A Guandu map poster suits anyone drawn to maps where geography does the design work. There are no rigid rectangles here, only lines responding to slope and water. In a minimal black and white style the effect is almost calligraphic, with roads reading like brushstrokes across the page and the countryside left as quiet open space.

Dense older core
At the centre, a tight cluster of short, irregular lanes marks the older part of town, drawn in finer and darker detail than its surroundings.
Terraced countryside
Around the town, small roads thread between farmed slopes and hamlets, a sparse pattern that frames the built area with plenty of white space.

Waarom Guandu
Een kaart met betekenis
For people with family roots in the Chongqing countryside, or anyone who has lived among its hills, a map of Guandu is a reminder of a very particular landscape, where every road has to negotiate the ground beneath it.
Add your own title, a subtitle in your preferred wording and a date, adjust the coordinates line if you like, and select one of five styles. Noir and Sand both bring out the curving roads especially well.
