Kelantan River
The wide lower river runs past the western side of town, with sandbars and side channels. It takes up a large part of the frame and sets the city's edge.

Kota Bharu Map Poster & Print
Kota Bharu lies on the east bank of the Kelantan River near the point where it reaches the South China Sea. The river is broad and slow at this stretch, with sandbanks and channels that shift over time, and it forms the western edge of the town on the map. The centre is compact, and the streets gradually thin out into villages, paddy fields and coconut groves toward the coast.
As the capital of Kelantan, the city holds the state's royal and religious institutions, and its old centre contains palace grounds and a large central market. Kota Bharu is known as a centre of Malay traditional crafts and culture, and the state lies close to the Thai border, a proximity visible in its food and daily life.
A Kota Bharu map poster balances the river's large, pale shape against the fine grain of the town. Main roads leave the centre toward the coast and the border, and the lower river's channels and islands add soft curves that a strictly gridded city would not have. The result is an understated print of a place many visitors to Malaysia never see.

Compact old centre
Around the market and royal quarter, streets are short and close together. It is the densest cluster on the poster, and development loosens quickly beyond it.
Toward the coast
Roads run north and east through villages and farmland to the South China Sea. In a wider framing, the shoreline appears at the edge of the print.
