The Piranga
The river curves through the centre of town, and its bends define where the flat, dense streets of the older town could be built.

Ponte Nova Map Poster & Print
Ponte Nova sits in the Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais, on the Piranga River. The name means new bridge, and the river is the organising line of the whole map. The town follows its curves, with streets squeezed onto the flat ground beside the water and the bridges tying the two banks together at the centre.
Away from the river, the land rises in steep, rounded hills typical of this part of Minas Gerais. Neighbourhoods climb the slopes in winding streets that follow the contours, and gaps between them mark hilltops and valleys too steep to build on. The result is a town with an irregular, organic outline rather than a planned grid.
A Ponte Nova map poster shows a Brazilian interior town shaped almost entirely by terrain: a river in loops, bridges at the heart, and streets that twist up into the hills. In black and white, the curving lines give the poster movement and a strong sense of place.

Bridges at the heart
True to the town's name, bridges link the two banks at the centre, short straight lines that stand out across the flowing river.
Hillside streets
Neighbourhoods climb the surrounding hills on winding roads that follow the slope, creating curling street patterns around the edges of the map.
