Lac de Réghaïa
The protected lake and its marshland form a large, organic shape near the coast. It is the natural counterweight to the built-up areas to the south.

De kaart
Reghaïa Map Poster & Print
Reghaïa lies on the Mitidja plain east of central Algiers, close to the Mediterranean coast. It was once mainly farmland and is now part of the capital's growing urban belt. It has residential districts, an industrial zone and major roads and a railway linking it to the city and to towns further east along the coast.
The most distinctive feature on the map is the Lac de Réghaïa, a coastal lake and marsh just north of the town. It is protected as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention and is an important stopover for migratory birds. Its irregular shoreline and short outlet to the sea make a calm, open shape against the dense streets.
A Reghaïa map poster sets these two sides next to each other: the regular blocks and housing estates of a modern suburb, and the natural lines of the lake and the beach. Wider framings follow the coastline toward neighbouring towns and show how the city's eastern edge meets the sea.

Mediterranean shore
The coastline runs across the top of the frame as a smooth line. It gives the composition a firm edge and a clear sense of direction.
Road and rail links
Major roads and the railway cross the town from west to east. They connect it to Algiers and add long, straight lines to the pattern of streets.
