Jenks lies just south of Tulsa on the Arkansas River, where the broad, sandy channel bends through a flat river plain. On a map the river is the dominant feature, running along the edge of town, while the old downtown forms a small grid and newer subdivisions spread outward in curving streets and cul-de-sacs toward the surrounding farmland and the mile-square road grid.
Jenks is home to the Oklahoma Aquarium, set beside the river near the Creek Turnpike crossing, and its Main Street has long been known for antique shops. The town is also recognised across the state for its public schools and their strong athletic tradition.
