Kouibly is a town in the Montagnes district of western Ivory Coast, in the green, hilly country around Man and Duékoué. On a map it appears as a modest street network set among plantations and patches of forest, with roads leading out to villages in the surrounding hills. Few places in the region are mapped in detail, so the town's own streets carry the whole composition.
Western Ivory Coast is one of the country's main farming areas, where cocoa and coffee grow in a humid climate. From above, farmland and woodland mix in irregular patches. Unpaved roads, typically red laterite on the ground, trace ridges and valleys rather than running in straight lines from one settlement to the next.
