Metpalle lies in Jagtial district in northern Telangana, on the Deccan plateau. The land is gently rolling and heavily farmed. As in much of the region, irrigation tanks, built reservoirs that hold monsoon water, are a key part of the landscape and show up on a map as clearly outlined shapes.
