Shizilu is an urban subdistrict in the Linyi area of southern Shandong and serves as the central town of its county. Like many county seats in eastern China, it has grown considerably in recent decades. Its map shows a characteristic mix of an older, more compact centre and new districts laid out in large, regular blocks along wide avenues.
The street plan is dominated by long, straight roads crossing at right angles, forming superblocks that hold residential compounds, schools and public buildings. Small watercourses cross the area and add a few softer lines to the plan.
