The map
Pedro Juan Caballero is the capital of Amambay Department in north-eastern Paraguay, and it shares a border with the Brazilian city of Ponta Porã. There is no river between them. The frontier is simply a road, and from above the street grids of the two cities meet along it, so that one continuous urban area is split by a single line.
This makes the map unusual. On one side, Paraguayan streets run in their own grid; on the other, Brazilian streets continue with a slightly different orientation and block size. The avenue along the border is where the two meet, and it serves as a busy commercial street where shoppers cross from both sides. Around the edges, the city spreads into the rolling, reddish farmland of the Amambay region.
A Pedro Juan Caballero map poster makes the invisible border readable. Two grids, set at slightly different angles, lean against each other along one long line. It is a compact lesson in how cities grow, and a print that anyone who knows the frontier will recognise immediately.

The Paraguayan and Brazilian sides each follow their own layout, so their grids differ slightly in angle and scale, a subtle contrast that stands out in black and white.
Beyond the centre, residential streets spread out and then give way to rural roads across the undulating farmland of Amambay.

Why Pedro Juan Caballero
Pedro Juan Caballero is a city of two languages, two currencies and families that often live on both sides of the line. A map that shows that shared grid means a great deal to people with ties to this frontier.
Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps naming both cities, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files are $9, and printed posters can be ordered with an optional wooden frame.
