The map
Prattville, the seat of Autauga County, lies just north-west of Montgomery on the northern side of the Alabama River. The town was founded in 1839 by Daniel Pratt, a New Hampshire-born industrialist who built a cotton gin factory beside Autauga Creek. That creek still runs through the old centre, and the earliest streets were laid out close to the mill and the water.
Prattville is known as the Fountain City for the artesian wells that flow in and around the town. Over the past decades it has grown well beyond its original core, with curving residential subdivisions, shopping areas near Interstate 65 and the Capitol Hill courses of Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail spreading across the landscape.
A Prattville map poster shows that growth clearly: a compact nineteenth-century grid along the creek, then broad suburban loops and cul-de-sacs, then the long curving fairways of the golf courses. Read from centre to edge, it is almost a timeline of how a Southern mill town became a suburb of a state capital.
The creek winds through the historic centre where Daniel Pratt's mill once stood, a soft line of water set against the straight streets of the old town.
Newer neighbourhoods fill the map with curving streets and cul-de-sacs, a distinctive texture that contrasts with the older grid close to the creek.
The golf courses form long winding shapes and ponds on the town's edge, giving the poster an unusual and very graphic set of curves.

Why Prattville
Prattville is a place people come back to: a hometown, a first house, a base near Montgomery. Its mix of creek, old grid and suburban curves makes a map that feels personal and still reads beautifully as design.
Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps a street name or moving-in date, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 HD files include 18×24″ and 24×36″ sizes.
