The map

About this Razgrad map poster

Razgrad sits in the rolling Ludogorie country of northeastern Bulgaria, where the Beli Lom river cuts a shallow valley through open farmland. From above, the town reads as a tight core of civic squares and pedestrian streets, surrounded first by blocks of apartment buildings and then by low houses whose gardens fade into fields. The river and the railway give the plan its strongest lines, and the town has grown along both.

On the eastern side of town lie the excavated remains of Abritus, a Roman and early Byzantine fortress. Near here, in 251, the emperor Decius was killed in battle against the Goths, the first Roman emperor to die fighting a foreign enemy. On a map the fortress appears as a distinct enclosure among softer, later streets, a reminder of how long people have lived in this valley.

A Razgrad map poster keeps these layers in balance: the curve of the Beli Lom, the dense centre around its Ottoman-era mosque and clock tower, and the looser outer districts that thin into the plains. In black and white the town becomes a study in scale, a small regional capital drawn clearly enough to follow a walk from the station to the old fortress.

01

Beli Lom valley

The Beli Lom river runs through the town from end to end. Its narrow line of water and green banks anchors the whole composition and shows why the settlement gathered here.

02

Abritus fortress

The archaeological reserve of Abritus shows as a clearly bounded enclosure on the eastern side of town. Its Roman geometry stands apart from the irregular residential streets around it.

03

Central squares

The centre gathers into a small cluster of squares and pedestrian streets near the Ibrahim Pasha Mosque. This is the densest part of the map before the streets loosen toward the edges.

Why Razgrad

A map that means something

Razgrad is the kind of place people carry with them after moving away: a school, a first flat, a family home near the river. A map poster holds that geography without postcards or slogans, and it suits a hallway or study as easily as a living room.

You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a surname, a year or a street, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. The $9 digital download includes six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files.
