The map

About this Saint George's map poster

Saint George's is built around a small, nearly enclosed harbour known as the Carenage. From above, the water forms a neat horseshoe with the town wrapped around its rim. Streets climb steeply from the quays up the surrounding hills. A narrow ridge separates the Carenage from the open-sea side of town, where the Esplanade faces the Caribbean.

The ridge is topped by Fort George, which sits on a headland at the harbour mouth. Beneath it runs the Sendall Tunnel, a short road tunnel built in the 1890s to connect the two sides of town without climbing the hill. Saint George's is often described as one of the most attractive harbours in the Caribbean, with red-roofed houses stacked on the slopes above the water.

A Saint George's map poster makes the most of this compact geography. The Carenage gives a strong central shape, the fort marks the point, and streets bend around the hills in a tight web. Few capitals fit so much coastline, slope and history into such a small frame.

01

The Carenage

A sheltered horseshoe harbour at the centre of town. Its rounded outline and surrounding quayside streets make it the most recognisable shape on the map.

02

Fort George

A fort on the headland at the harbour entrance, overlooking both the Carenage and the open sea. On the poster it marks the point where the ridge meets the water.

03

Sendall Tunnel

A short road tunnel from the 1890s passing under the ridge. It links the Carenage side with the Esplanade side and explains how the two halves of town connect.

Why Saint George's

A map that means something

Saint George's stays in the memory of anyone who has sailed into the Carenage or walked its steep lanes. A map of the harbour, fort and hillside streets is a compact, elegant reminder of Grenada, whether it is home or a favourite trip.

The title, subtitle and coordinates line are yours to set, perhaps with a family name or a wedding date. The poster comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, each giving the horseshoe harbour a different character.
