The map

About this Santo Tomé map poster

Santo Tomé lies directly across the Salado River from the city of Santa Fe. From above, it is a textbook Argentine town: a regular grid of square blocks spreading west from the riverbank, broken only by diagonals, rail lines and main roads. On the other side of the water, Santa Fe's own grid continues, and bridges tie the two together.

The Salado is the defining line on the map. Its meanders, floodplain and marshy edges separate the two cities and show how closely they are bound to water. Further east, the broad wetlands of the Paraná system begin, one of the largest river landscapes in South America, and a constant presence in the life of the region.

A Santo Tomé map poster shows a town that is part of a metropolitan area yet clearly its own place. The grid is crisp and even, and the river gives it a curving, natural edge. In black and white, the pattern of blocks against the looping water makes a composition both orderly and alive.

01

Square-block grid

Streets form a near-perfect grid of equal blocks, typical of towns in the Argentine pampas. On the poster the regularity creates a calm, even texture.

02

Salado River

The river runs along the eastern side of town with loops and wide margins. It separates Santo Tomé from Santa Fe and is the strongest natural line on the map.

03

Bridges to Santa Fe

Road bridges cross the Salado toward the provincial capital. They appear as short, firm links between two grids that almost mirror each other.
