The map

About this Sāqultah map poster

Sāqultah is a town and district centre in Sohag Governorate, in the narrow band of farmland that follows the Nile through Upper Egypt. Here the cultivated valley is only a few kilometres wide, and the map shows it plainly: a dense cluster of streets and houses, a patchwork of small fields around it, and beyond that the abrupt, empty space where irrigation stops and the desert begins.

Irrigation canals are the defining lines of this landscape. They run roughly parallel to the river and feed a lattice of smaller channels between the fields, while villages sit close together along roads and embankments, so the settled land feels almost continuous from one town to the next. It is a pattern repeated along much of Upper Egypt, shaped by thousands of years of farming beside the Nile.

A Sāqultah map poster turns that geography into a clear graphic statement. The tight texture of the town, the fine ruled lines of canals and field boundaries, and the sudden blankness of the desert combine into an image that explains the whole valley in one glance. It is a portrait of a place defined by water, and by exactly where water can reach.

01

Canal network

Main canals run alongside the valley with smaller channels branching between fields, drawing a precise, ruled pattern across the cultivated land.

02

Dense town fabric

The town's streets are narrow and closely packed, forming a dark, compact mass on the map, typical of settlements where every metre of farmland is valuable.

03

Desert edge

At the limit of irrigation the detail stops almost at once, leaving an open, empty zone that frames the valley and sharpens its outline.

Why Sāqultah

A map that means something

For people from Sohag Governorate living in Cairo or abroad, a map of Sāqultah is a direct link to home: the canal by the family's fields, the street of a childhood house. It is personal without being sentimental.

The title and subtitle can be written in your own words, alongside a coordinates line for an exact spot. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download or order a matte print.
