The map

About this Shtip map poster

Shtip sits in eastern North Macedonia where the small Otinja stream runs down to meet the Bregalnica river. On a map the town gathers tightly around that meeting point, its older streets bending with the water while newer blocks spread onto the flatter ground beyond. The rocky Isar hill rises right beside the centre, a blank patch among the dense lines that anchors the whole composition.

The Otinja channel cuts straight through the middle of town, so bridges and short riverside streets repeat across the centre in a rhythm that reads clearly in black and white. To the south and east the Bregalnica draws a broader curve, and the roads toward neighbouring towns leave the grid at a few decisive angles, giving the edges of the plan an open, radiating quality.

Shtip has long been associated with the textile industry, and it is home to Goce Delčev University, which brings a student population to a town of under fifty thousand. A Shtip map poster keeps all of this in one frame: the hill, the two rivers and the tight weave of streets between them, drawn without labels so the shape itself does the talking.

01

Isar hill

The fortified hill of Isar rises directly above the centre. On the poster it appears as an open, roadless mass pressed against the streets, the clearest landmark in the whole plan.

02

Otinja through town

A narrow stream runs through the heart of Shtip in an engineered channel, crossed again and again by short bridges that stitch the two halves of the centre together.

03

Bregalnica bend

The larger Bregalnica river sweeps past the edge of town in a wide curve, marking a soft outer boundary against which the denser street pattern comes to an end.
