The map
Sīdī Sālim lies in Kafr el-Sheikh Governorate, in the northern part of the Nile Delta. The land around it is completely flat and intensively farmed, so the map is dominated by the patterns of agriculture: long narrow fields, straight canals and the raised roads that run beside them. The town itself appears as a compact, dense cluster of streets at the meeting point of several routes.
North of the town, the delta stretches toward Lake Burullus, a large coastal lagoon on the Mediterranean shore. Water is managed here through a network of canals and drains that branch and rejoin across the plain, and on a map they read as fine lines dividing the land into long, irregular strips.
A Sīdī Sālim map poster captures this delta landscape in a restrained, graphic way. The tight grain of the town centre contrasts with the open agricultural grid around it, and the canals give the composition a sense of direction. For people with roots in Kafr el-Sheikh, it is a clear, quiet portrait of home.
Irrigation canals and drainage channels cross the surrounding farmland in long lines, dividing the delta into narrow fields and guiding the direction of roads.
The built-up area forms a compact mass of short, closely packed streets, clearly set apart from the open fields that surround it.
Flat cultivated land extends in every direction, its field boundaries and rural roads forming a fine pattern that fills the edges of the poster.
