Dense town core
At the centre the streets are close and irregular, following old plots and paths rather than a planned grid, which gives the map a fine, intricate texture.

The map
Sumusţā as Sulţānī lies in Beni Suef Governorate in Middle Egypt, in the fertile strip of the Nile Valley south of Cairo. Like most towns in this part of Egypt, it is surrounded by intensively farmed land, and its form on the map reflects centuries of settlement in a narrow band of cultivation between desert edges.
From above the town appears as a compact knot of streets, dense and irregular at the centre, loosening towards the outskirts. Around it the fields form a tight mosaic, divided by irrigation channels and farm tracks that run in many directions. Roads connect the town with neighbouring villages and with the main routes along the valley.
A Sumusţā as Sulţānī map poster shows the relationship between the town and the land that sustains it. In black and white the dense built core contrasts with the fine lines of canals and field boundaries. It is a quiet, grounded portrait of a Nile Valley town.
At the centre the streets are close and irregular, following old plots and paths rather than a planned grid, which gives the map a fine, intricate texture.
Surrounding farmland is divided into small parcels by irrigation channels and tracks, forming a detailed patchwork that frames the town on every side.
Roads lead out towards neighbouring villages and the main north to south routes of the Nile Valley, linking Sumusţā as Sulţānī to Beni Suef and beyond.
