Bogo is a town in Cameroon's Far North Region, north-east of Maroua, on the broad plain that stretches toward Lake Chad. The landscape is flat and seasonal, with long dry months followed by rains that fill shallow riverbeds and turn the surrounding fields green. From above, the town appears as a compact cluster of compounds and lanes, with tracks leading away in every direction.
Life here is organised around farming, herding and markets that draw people from surrounding villages. The town has grown steadily. Its street pattern mixes a denser core with looser blocks of walled compounds at the edges, a layout common across the Sahel, where family courtyards set the size of each block.
