The map
Tripoli is Lebanon's second city and the capital of the north, and its map has two distinct centres. Inland, the old town gathers around the Abu Ali River, overlooked by the Citadel of Raymond de Saint-Gilles on its hill. On the coast, El Mina occupies a blunt peninsula pushing into the sea, with its harbour, fishing boats and a grid of seafront streets.
Newer districts have filled the plain between the two with broad avenues and apartment blocks, so the city now reads as a single continuous shape. The old town is the most intricate part of the map. Its narrow lanes, covered souks, khans and mosques, many from the Mamluk era, are packed so tightly that the streets appear as fine threads rather than roads.
Closer to the coast lies the Rashid Karami International Fair, designed by Oscar Niemeyer and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its sweeping concrete forms laid out across open ground. Offshore, a scatter of small islands forms a protected nature reserve. A Tripoli map poster brings the medieval core, the port and the modern plan into one frame.
The Crusader-era citadel rises on a hill above the Abu Ali River, and the old town spreads around its base in a knot of lanes and souks.
The port quarter projects into the Mediterranean on its own short peninsula. It gives the coastline a distinctive bulge and a harbour edge lined with streets.
The unfinished fair designed by Oscar Niemeyer occupies a large open site. Its curved paths and pavilions draw geometric shapes unlike anything else in the city.

Why Tripoli
For Tripolitans at home and across the diaspora, the map holds the route from the souks to the sea, the family street in El Mina and the view up to the citadel. It is a precise, understated way to keep the city close.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, then choose one of five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or the warmer Sand. A free 900 px preview lets you check the framing before you buy.
