The map
Ubud sits in the uplands of central Bali, and its map is shaped by water that has cut deep into the volcanic ground. Rivers such as the Wos and the Ayung run in narrow gorges roughly north to south, and the roads follow the ridges between them. The result is a town drawn in long parallel lines, with green ravines where one might expect cross streets.
At the centre, near the royal palace, Puri Saren, and the market, the street pattern tightens into a small network of lanes. To the south lies the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, a patch of woodland and temples that appears on the map as a clear break in the buildings. Farther out, villages and rice terraces spread along the ridges.
An Ubud map poster shows why the town feels the way it does on foot: you walk along a ridge, drop into a gorge and climb out again. Ubud has long been associated with Balinese painting, dance and craft, and the map of its ridges and river valleys carries a similar sense of careful, layered work.
Main roads follow the ridges between river gorges, so the street network forms long north–south strands with few connections across the ravines.
The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary sits at the southern edge of the centre, a compact block of forest and temples that interrupts the surrounding lanes.
The Wos and Ayung rivers carve deep, winding valleys around the town, drawn on the map as sinuous lines threading through otherwise dense ground.

Why Ubud
Ubud stays with people long after a visit: the ridge walks, the terraces, the sound of water below. This map brings that geography home in a calm, graphic form, a reminder of a stay, a retreat or a place where something began.
Add your own title and subtitle, a date or the coordinates of a favourite spot, and pick one of five styles, from Classic black and white to Sand. HD files are $9 in six print sizes, or order a matte printed poster with an optional frame.
