The map
Vobkent lies north of Bukhara in the Zarafshan oasis, one of the long-settled irrigated landscapes of Central Asia. From above, the town is a compact cluster of streets set among fields. Each parcel is edged by canals and ditches that bring water from the river system. In black and white, the contrast between town blocks and the ruled pattern of the fields is striking.
The best-known landmark is the Vobkent minaret, a tall brick tower built at the end of the twelfth century. For centuries it has served as a reference point across the flat plain. On the map it marks the historic heart of the town, and streets extend outwards from it toward the surrounding farmland.
A Vobkent Shahri map poster shows how closely this place depends on water. Roads follow canals, fields follow roads, and the town sits inside a geometry shaped by centuries of irrigation. On paper, the plan looks both practical and quietly beautiful.
The brick minaret is Vobkent's defining landmark. Framing the poster on the historic core keeps it at the centre of the composition.
Irrigation channels run through and around the town as thin, purposeful lines. They divide the land into long parcels and give the map its ruled texture.
Where the built-up area stops, cultivated fields begin at once. The result is a clear boundary between the dense streets and the open, geometric farmland beyond.
