Te mapa
Adana lies on the flat, fertile Çukurova plain in southern Turkey, one of the country's great farming regions, and the Seyhan River runs through the city from north to south. The river divides Adana into western and eastern halves, and its broad channel, lined with parks and promenades, is the clearest feature on the map, a pale band through an otherwise continuous street pattern.
On the northern edge of the city, the Seyhan Dam holds back a large reservoir, its lobed shoreline contrasting with the straight roads below. In the older core near the river, streets are narrower and more irregular, while newer districts extend outward in long, regular blocks toward the cotton fields and orchards of the surrounding plain.
The Taşköprü, a stone bridge dating from the Roman period, still crosses the river in the centre and is among the oldest bridges in the world still in use. Beside it on the west bank rises the Sabancı Central Mosque. An Adana map poster brings the river, the bridge and the reservoir together in a clean, balanced composition.
This Roman-era bridge crosses the Seyhan on a row of arches near the old centre, a short, solid line joining the two halves of the city.
Above the city the dam lake spreads out in an irregular shape with many inlets, a large open form that anchors the top of the poster.
Green strips follow both banks of the Seyhan through the centre, giving the river a wide, calm outline against the dense blocks on either side.
