Te mapa
Airmadidi lies in the Minahasa highlands of North Sulawesi, between the city of Manado and the port of Bitung, and serves as the administrative centre of North Minahasa. Its map is shaped by terrain: roads follow ridges and valleys, and the town spreads along them rather than in a compact grid, with coconut groves and gardens filling the spaces between.
To the east rises Mount Klabat, the highest peak in North Sulawesi, whose slopes dominate the local landscape. The area is also known for its waruga, the carved stone sarcophagi of the Minahasa people, some of which are preserved in the Sawangan area of Airmadidi. The town's name, often translated as boiling water, refers to the springs nearby.
An Airmadidi map poster presents a place that is more organic than planned, streets threaded through a green, hilly countryside. In line form it becomes a delicate network of curving roads, a pleasant contrast to the rigid grids of many other cities.
Streets curve along the contours of the Minahasa uplands, producing an irregular, branching network rather than blocks, clearly shaped by the underlying terrain.
The lower flanks of North Sulawesi's highest mountain rise to the east of town, where the road network thins out into forest and farmland.
The main road linking Manado and Bitung passes through the area, the most prominent line on the map and the town's connection to both coasts.

Koteā ko Airmadidi
Airmadidi is home for many Minahasa families who now live in Manado, Jakarta or overseas. A map of its roads and hills is a quiet reminder of the place, and a thoughtful present for a parent, grandparent or anyone returning home.
