Te mapa
Halmahera has one of the most unusual outlines in Indonesia. Four long peninsulas radiate from a narrow centre, making a shape often compared to the letter K. Between them lie three large bays, Kao, Buli and Weda, that reach deep into the land. The island is mountainous and heavily forested, and its roads mostly follow the coasts.
Sofifi, the provincial capital of North Maluku, lies on the west coast facing the small volcanic island of Ternate. Ternate was historically more important as a centre of the clove trade and seat of a sultanate. Several active volcanoes stand on Halmahera itself, including Dukono and Ibu in the north.
A Halmahera map poster is largely an outline study. There are long peninsulas, coastal roads that link small towns, and wide open bays with islets. Nickel mining has recently brought new roads and industrial areas to parts of the coast, especially around Weda Bay in the east.

Kao, Buli and Weda bays reach far between the arms. On the print they appear as large, almost enclosed expanses of water.

Koteā ko Halmahera Island
Halmahera is for people with roots in North Maluku, those who have worked there or simply love a striking coastline. Its K-shape holds the eye on a wall and is quite unlike any other island.
