Al Bāb Map Poster & Print
Al Bāb lies on the broad, open plateau northeast of Aleppo in northern Syria. The landscape around it is flat and largely agricultural, and on the map the town appears as a concentrated mass of streets surrounded by long straight roads and field boundaries.
Its name means the gate in Arabic, and it has long served as a market town on the routes leading from Aleppo toward the east. In recent years the town was heavily affected by the Syrian conflict, and for many people from Al Bāb the streets carry memories of a place that has changed a great deal.
