Al Mash‘ilīyah is part of the urban area of Najran in southwestern Saudi Arabia, close to the Yemeni border. Najran occupies a long valley shaped by a wadi. Farmland, palm groves and settlements have long gathered along the fertile valley floor, while rocky mountains rise on either side.
