Taiz Map Poster & Print

Taiz lies at the foot of Jabal Sabir, one of the highest mountains in Yemen, and its map is shaped by the steep rise of the land. The city spreads along a valley floor and climbs the lower slopes, with streets bending sharply to follow the terrain. The mountain's northern face forms a dark, unbuilt mass above the dense city.

The old city lies at the core, with narrow lanes and historic mosques, including the Al-Ashrafiya and Al-Muzaffar mosques. Above it stands the Cairo citadel on a rocky outcrop. Taiz was a capital under the Rasulid dynasty and is often described as the cultural capital of Yemen, known for its schools and writers.

A Taiz map poster frames the city against its mountain, with streets tightening as they climb. The valley stretches east and west, and the city follows it in a long band. It is a portrait of a city defined by elevation, drawn with care and simplicity.

Jabal Sabir

The mountain rising directly south of the city limits its growth and shapes its streets, which grow steeper and more winding as they reach the lower slopes.

02

Cairo citadel

A fortress on a rocky ridge above the old city, visible as a distinct enclosed shape overlooking the dense quarter below.

03

Old city

The historic centre is a compact network of narrow, irregular lanes around mosques and markets, forming the densest texture on the map.
