Te mapa
Djibouti City is built on a low coastal peninsula where the Gulf of Tadjoura opens toward the Gulf of Aden. The sea surrounds it on several sides. The map shows a dense central grid near the northern tip, harbour basins and container terminals to the west, and newer districts stretching south and inland across dry, flat ground.
As the capital of a small country at the mouth of the Red Sea, the city lives from its port, which handles much of Ethiopia's trade. A modern railway to Addis Ababa opened in the late 2010s. The old centre around Place Menelik mixes French colonial arcades with Somali and Arab influences, and the city's position has made it a base for several foreign navies.
A Djibouti map poster turns this coastal city into a strong graphic shape: an irregular peninsula, the geometric edges of piers and breakwaters, and the tight streets of the centre set against wide open water. With so much sea in the frame, the composition feels calm and spacious, especially in the lighter styles.
The colonial-era centre around Place Menelik is laid out in a dense grid of short blocks near the northern tip of the peninsula, the heart of the old town.
West of the centre, harbour basins, quays and breakwaters form sharp straight edges against the water. They are among the most distinctive shapes on the map.
The wide gulf frames the city to the north, filling much of the poster with open sea and giving the peninsula a clear, bold outline.

Koteā ko Djibouti
Many people pass through Djibouti: diplomats, sailors, soldiers, aid workers and families spread across the Horn of Africa and beyond. A map of the capital on its peninsula is a quiet reminder of time spent at the crossroads of the Red Sea.
