Te mapa
Allen lies in the Alto Valle of the Río Negro in northern Patagonia, between Neuquén and General Roca, on the fertile strip of land that follows the river through an otherwise dry plateau. From above, the town has a regular street grid, while the countryside around it is divided into long rectangular farms, separated by irrigation canals and tall rows of poplars that shelter the fruit trees from the wind.
Fruit growing defines Allen. It calls itself the national capital of the pear, and orchards of pears and apples fill much of the valley around it. Irrigation made this possible, and its canals give the map a precise, almost engineered look. To the north the land rises to the bare edge of the plateau, a sudden change in texture from cultivated valley to open ground.
An Allen map poster captures both halves of the valley: the tidy town grid and the orderly farms stretching towards the river. The Río Negro forms a winding edge to the south, and the pattern of canals and windbreaks gives the surrounding area remarkable detail at larger sizes. It suits people from the Alto Valle, and anyone who has worked a harvest here.

The centre follows a regular grid of square blocks, typical of Argentine towns, giving the core a clean, easily read shape on the print.
The river curves along the southern side of the valley, its channels and islands offering a softer, natural contrast to the ruled lines of the farmland.

Koteā ko Allen
In the Alto Valle, fruit growing often runs in families, and a map of Allen is a direct link to that work and that land. It also makes a considered gift for anyone who moved away from Río Negro and still misses the long rows of poplars.
