Te mapa
Alotenango lies in the Sacatepéquez Department of Guatemala, a short distance south of Antigua. It sits below the volcanoes Fuego and Acatenango, and their slopes rise steeply from the edge of town. On the map, the settlement is a compact grid of blocks squeezed onto the more level ground between ravines and rising terrain.
Fuego is one of the most active volcanoes in Central America, and its eruptions shape life in the valley. The town's surroundings are farmland and coffee plots on the lower slopes, crossed by deep gullies that carry water and, at times, volcanic debris. Roads run along the valley, linking Alotenango north toward Antigua and south toward the Pacific lowlands.
An Alotenango map poster shows a settlement defined by its setting. Although a monochrome street map cannot draw the volcanoes directly, their presence is clear from the way the grid ends abruptly and the roads bend around the slopes. It is a small, concentrated composition with a strong sense of place.
The flanks of Fuego and Acatenango rise from the edge of town. On the map, the street grid stops where the ground begins to climb.
The town's blocks form a neat, dense pattern in the valley. It is typical of highland Guatemalan towns and gives the poster a clear centre.
The main route runs through the valley toward Antigua in one direction and the lowlands in the other. It is the longest line on the page.

Koteā ko Alotenango
People hang Alotenango for the drama of its location, even when a map shows it only indirectly: a small highland town at the foot of two volcanoes. It is a meaningful print for hikers who climbed Acatenango and for families from the valley.
You can edit the title and subtitle, perhaps adding a climb date or a family name, and adjust the coordinates. Choose from five styles, including dark Noir. Download the $9 HD files or order a framed print shipped from a partner in your region.
