Te mapa
Ankeny lies just north of Des Moines, in the flat farmland of central Iowa. Its map sits on the rural square-mile grid that covers much of the Midwest, with straight section-line roads running north to south and east to west. Within those squares, newer neighbourhoods have been built with curving streets and cul-de-sacs, creating a striking contrast between rigid frame and flowing infill.
Ankeny has been one of the fastest-growing cities in Iowa in recent decades, and its map clearly shows successive waves of development pushing outwards. Interstate 35 runs along the western side of the city, forming a strong boundary and a direct link to Des Moines.
The city is also home to the main campus of Des Moines Area Community College, which forms a large block on the map. An Ankeny map poster captures this blend of agricultural grid, modern subdivisions and campus in clean black lines, an image of the growing Midwest drawn with precision.
Straight roads follow the square-mile survey grid of the Midwest, providing a regular frame that organises the entire city.
Within each grid square, newer neighbourhoods use looping streets and cul-de-sacs, adding soft, organic shapes to the rigid framework.
The interstate runs along the western edge of the city, forming a clear boundary and a strong diagonal-free line on the map.

Koteā ko Ankeny
Ankeny is a place many families have chosen recently, and a map of their new city is a meaningful way to mark that move. Its combination of grid and curves makes for an unusually graphic poster.
