Te mapa
Arcos de Valdevez is a town in northern Portugal, in the district of Viana do Castelo, built on both banks of the River Vez. From above, the historic centre follows the river closely, with bridges connecting the two sides and streets climbing the slopes of the valley.
The area has a special place in Portuguese history: the Recontro de Valdevez, a tournament fought here around 1140 between Portuguese and Leonese knights, is often seen as a step toward the kingdom's independence. The municipality also extends into the mountains of the Peneda-Gerês National Park.
An Arcos de Valdevez map poster shows a town shaped by its river and hills. The Vez winds through the centre, the streets fan out along the valley, and small villages and fields scatter across the green slopes around it, giving the print a soft, flowing composition.
The river runs through the middle of town, with riverside gardens and bridges linking the two banks. It is the central line of the whole composition.
Narrow streets and small squares cluster near the river, reflecting the town's older layout, with newer neighbourhoods spreading up the slopes.
Beyond the town, winding roads climb toward the Peneda-Gerês mountains, passing scattered villages and terraced fields typical of the Minho.
