Te mapa
Arinos lies in the far northwest of Minas Gerais, in savanna country where the land opens out and settlements are far apart. On a map the town is a compact block of streets beside the Urucuia River. Around it the empty space is broken only by dirt roads, field boundaries and the thin green lines of streams heading down to the river.
The Urucuia gives the map its main curve. It bends past the town and carries on toward the São Francisco basin. This is the landscape of the veredas, the palm-lined wetlands of the sertão that João Guimarães Rosa wrote about in Grande Sertão: Veredas, and the region is still closely tied to that novel. In black and white, the river and its side channels read like handwriting against the plain.
An Arinos map poster shows how spread out this part of Brazil is. The street grid takes up only a small part of the frame, and most of the sheet is rivers, tracks and open ground. That balance makes it a quiet, spacious print, a portrait of a town set in its landscape.
The river sweeps past the edge of town in wide bends. It is the strongest line on the map and ties Arinos to the larger São Francisco river system further east.
The town's blocks form a tight, regular pattern. It stands out clearly against the open cerrado that surrounds it on every side.
Long straight roads and fainter tracks run out from the town toward farms and neighbouring municipalities. They cut the empty plateau into large, simple shapes.

Koteā ko Arinos
People who grew up along the Urucuia, or who travelled the sertão on the trail of Guimarães Rosa, often want a quiet reminder of the place. The map keeps the river and the town together in one clean composition.
Add a family name, a year or the coordinates, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The Sand style suits the dry-season colours of the cerrado especially well.
