Te mapa
The Armenian Quarter occupies the southwestern corner of the Old City of Jerusalem and is one of its four traditional quarters. The city walls define part of its boundary, with Jaffa Gate and the Citadel to the north and Zion Gate to the south. On a map it looks different from its neighbours, with larger enclosed blocks and fewer through-streets.
Much of the quarter is taken up by the monastery compound of St James, seat of the Armenian Patriarchate, with its cathedral, residences, library and courtyards behind high walls. Around it, a handful of streets and lanes run between the gates. The result is a quieter, more inward-looking pattern than the dense market streets elsewhere in the Old City.
An Armenian community has lived in Jerusalem for many centuries, and the quarter remains its centre, with churches, schools and homes grouped inside the walls. The Cathedral of St James is the community's spiritual heart. An Armenian Quarter map poster renders this enclosed space in precise lines and sets it within the wider fabric of the Old City.
The large walled monastery fills much of the quarter. On the map it appears as a solid block of courtyards and buildings with few openings to the street.
The Ottoman walls form the western and southern edges, a firm line that gives the quarter its clear outline in the corner of the Old City.
Two city gates frame the district, Jaffa Gate and the Citadel to the north and Zion Gate to the south, and connect the quarter to the streets around it.

Koteā ko Armenian Quarter
This map speaks to Armenian families, pilgrims and anyone who has walked from Jaffa Gate into the quieter lanes of the Old City. Its walls and courtyards form a calm, geometric image that suits a study or a quiet corner.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a family name or a date, and choose one of five styles. Sand and Paper suit the stone of the Old City, and a free watermarked preview lets you check the framing before you buy.
