Te mapa
Arroyo Naranjo is a large municipality on the southern edge of Havana, well away from the sea and the colonial centre. On a map, its northern half is a close mesh of residential streets. To the south, the pattern opens up into parkland, reservoirs and farmland on the city's outer edge.
Its best-known feature is Parque Lenin, a large park created in the 1970s with lakes, woodland and winding paths. It covers a large part of the municipality's map. Main roads run south from central Havana through the district. Neighbourhoods form around them, and small streams wind through the landscape.
An Arroyo Naranjo map poster shows a different Havana from the Malecón and Old Havana. It is quieter and greener, a place where people live and spend weekends in the park. Dense housing in the north and open land in the south make it a well-balanced subject in black and white.
The large park fills much of the southern map with the soft outlines of lakes, groves and curving paths. It is one of the largest green spaces in the Havana area.
In the north, compact blocks of houses and low apartment buildings form a close, irregular grid. It continues the street fabric of central Havana.
Main roads run from the city centre southwards through the municipality. They connect the neighbourhoods and structure the map into distinct sectors.
