Te mapa
Avoriaz sits on a high plateau above Morzine in Haute-Savoie, part of the Portes du Soleil ski area. On a map the resort looks unusual. A cluster of angular buildings sits close to a cliff edge, with snow-covered lanes between them and ski slopes spreading around the sides. The resort is car-free, so paths and pistes do the work that roads do elsewhere.
Avoriaz was built from the late 1960s with a distinctive architecture of wood-clad, sharply angled buildings designed to echo the mountain shapes. Cars are left outside the resort. In winter people move around on foot or skis, or by horse-drawn sleigh. For twenty years the resort also hosted a well-known festival of fantasy film.
An Avoriaz map poster shows a compact, carefully planned resort at the edge of a drop, with open ski terrain spreading beyond. The lines are sharp and deliberate, a good match for the architecture. It suits anyone who has skied the Portes du Soleil or walked the snowy lanes of this car-free village.
The resort stands close to a steep drop above the valley. On paper the buildings cluster along this edge, which gives the map a strong, dramatic boundary.
There are no roads for cars inside the resort, only paths and ski routes. The map shows a clean pattern of lanes between buildings, unusually free of traffic infrastructure.
Lifts and runs connect Avoriaz to the wider Portes du Soleil area, including slopes on both sides of the French–Swiss border. They lead out from the resort into open terrain.

Koteā ko Avoriaz
Avoriaz is memorable for its architecture and its car-free calm. A poster of the resort and its cliff edge keeps that distinctive shape in view, and it is especially meaningful for skiers who return every winter.
Change the title and subtitle, perhaps to note a film festival memory or your ski week, and keep the coordinates. Blueprint and Noir suit its angular design, while Paper and Sand are softer. Classic black & white completes the five styles.
