Te mapa
Flaine lies in Haute-Savoie, within the Grand Massif ski area, in a high, enclosed basin surrounded by limestone cliffs and ridges. From above, the resort sits on terraces along the side of this bowl, with the ski runs dropping into it from the rim. The road reaches it from below, winding up through forest before entering the basin.
Flaine was built in the 1960s as a planned resort, with architecture by Marcel Breuer, who had trained at the Bauhaus. Its concrete buildings follow the terrain in stepped rows. The resort also displays outdoor works by artists including Picasso, Dubuffet and Vasarely, which makes it unusual among ski villages.
A Flaine map poster reflects an intentional design: long, angular buildings laid out along contour lines inside a natural amphitheatre. The contrast between the geometric blocks and the rounded shape of the bowl is striking in a black-and-white print. It suits skiers, architecture enthusiasts and anyone drawn to twentieth-century modernism.

Breuer's buildings follow the slope in long, angular rows. Their geometry stands out sharply against the natural curves of the terrain.
Lift lines leave the bowl over the ridges toward neighbouring resorts in the Grand Massif. They tie Flaine into a much larger ski area.

Koteā ko Flaine
Flaine divides opinion, and that is part of its appeal. People who love it value the clarity of its design and the way it sits inside the mountain. A print treats the resort as a piece of architecture as well as a place to ski.
You can change the title, add a subtitle and edit the coordinates line. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint is a natural fit for a resort that was drawn on an architect's table.
