Te mapa
Babanūsah lies in West Kordofan in central Sudan, on the wide, flat savanna between the Nile valley and Darfur. On a map the railway dominates. The town grew up at a junction where the line from the north divides, with one branch heading west towards Darfur and another south towards what is now South Sudan.
The surrounding region is cattle country, home to pastoralist communities who move herds seasonally across the plains. The town's streets form a loose network around the station and market, and beyond them the land opens up almost completely, broken only by tracks and seasonal watercourses.
A Babanūsah map poster shows a place defined by a single piece of infrastructure. The rail lines branch out across the sheet with rare clarity, and the town sits at the point where they meet. It is a sparse, strong composition that reflects the scale of the plains.
Lines meet and divide here, one heading west and one south, giving the map a clear branching shape that is unusual in a town of this size.
The market and the main streets are grouped near the station, making it the densest part of the settlement and the natural centre of the poster.
Around the town, the land is almost empty on the map, with only tracks and watercourses, so the settlement appears as a small, sharp cluster.
