Te mapa
Wau is the capital of Western Bahr el Ghazal and one of the largest cities in South Sudan. It stands on the Jur River, which gives the map its main curve. The town spreads out from the riverbank in a mix of straight central streets and looser residential areas that fade into open savanna and woodland.
The city has long been a regional centre for trade and administration. It is the southern end of a railway line that runs down from Sudan, and the tracks and station area are still a clear feature on the map. Wau is also known for the Cathedral of St Mary, a large brick church that is one of the landmarks of the centre.
Around the edges, roads head out towards other towns of the Bahr el Ghazal region across flat country with seasonal wetlands and farmland. A Wau map poster shows a place with generous open space: a river line, a modest grid, and streets that loosen into the landscape instead of ending at a hard edge.
The river runs past the city and is the strongest line on the map. Streets near the bank follow its curve before straightening out as they move into the town.
The railway from the north ends here. Its tracks and station yard cut a straight line through the town, a reminder of Wau's role as a regional hub.
Beyond the centre, the streets spread into widely spaced residential areas and then into savanna. This gives the poster a soft, airy border instead of a dense frame.
