Te mapa
Bahía de Caráquez sits on a narrow peninsula on Ecuador's central Pacific coast, where the Chone River widens into a broad estuary before reaching the ocean. The town's shape on a map is unmistakable: a tapering point of land with the Pacific on one side, the calm estuary on the other, and a compact grid of streets filling most of the space between them.
The Los Caras Bridge crosses the estuary to San Vicente on the northern shore. Opened in 2010, it is often cited as the longest bridge in Ecuador. The town was badly damaged by the 2016 earthquake, and much of its seafront has since been rebuilt. It had earlier gained a reputation for its environmental initiatives as an eco-city.
A Bahía de Caráquez map poster is mostly water, with the dense peninsula, the long line of the bridge and the mangrove-lined edges of the estuary in between. It is a clean, graphic map that suits people who know this coast well.
The town fills a narrow point of land between ocean and estuary. Its grid runs almost from shore to shore, giving the print a clearly defined, pointed shape.
The long bridge to San Vicente crosses the estuary as a single straight line and is the boldest human-made feature on the map.
The broad, shallow estuary spreads inland with sandbars and mangrove edges, creating large areas of calm water that balance the dense streets.
