Te mapa
Bai’anba is an urban subdistrict of Wanzhou, in northeastern Chongqing, in the steep country of the Three Gorges region. Here the land is rarely flat. On the map, roads loop and switch back to follow the slopes, and blocks of housing sit on terraces cut into the hillsides rather than on a regular grid.
Wanzhou grew as a river port on the Yangtze, and the Three Gorges Dam changed its geography, raising the water level and widening the river into a long reservoir. Much of the modern city was rebuilt on higher ground as a result, which is why its street pattern feels new and layered along the heights.
A Bai’anba map poster reads almost like a topographic drawing. Curving roads trace the hills, dense clusters of buildings fill the gentler ground, and the wide water of the Yangtze defines the city beyond. In black and white, the district looks less like a grid and more like a set of fingerprints pressed into the terrain.
Main roads wind across the slopes in long curves and hairpins, the clearest sign on the map of how steep the ground is beneath the city.
Residential compounds are set on stepped platforms, forming compact clusters separated by slopes and green gaps rather than continuous street frontage.
Across Wanzhou, the river widened by the Three Gorges Dam forms a broad band of water, giving the surrounding districts a strong natural edge.

Koteā ko Bai’anba
Many families in Wanzhou lived through the relocation that came with the dam, and for them a map of the new districts is a record of a changed home. For others, it is simply a striking image of a city built on hills.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line to mark a street, a family name or a moving date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, depending on whether you want the contours to feel graphic, dark or soft.
