Te mapa
Baliuag, also spelled Baliwag, is in Bulacan province north of Metro Manila. It became a component city in 2022 after a long history as one of the province's larger towns. On a map its old centre is compact, a knot of streets around the church and public market, and roads fan out from it towards neighbouring towns.
The town sits on the flat plain of Central Luzon, so its growth follows roads rather than terrain. Subdivisions and barangays spread outward along the main routes, and the built-up area thins gradually into rice fields and open farmland. The result is a star-like shape, dense at the centre and fraying into long strands at the edges.
Baliuag is also known for its buntal hats, woven from palm fibre, a craft long associated with the town. A Baliuag map poster suits people who grew up among its streets or left to work abroad. It keeps the shape of home on the wall, from the church square to the roads that lead out to the fields.
The oldest streets gather around the parish church and public market, forming a dense centre from which the rest of the town radiates.
Main roads leave the centre towards neighbouring Bulacan towns, lined with homes and businesses that form long strands of development across the plain.
Where the strands of development thin out, rice fields and farmland open up, giving the poster calm white space around its busy middle.
