Te mapa
Banlung is the capital of Ratanakiri Province, in Cambodia's far north-east, close to the borders with Laos and Vietnam. From above, the town is a loose, open grid on a gently rolling plateau. A few main roads carry most of the traffic, while the rest of the streets spread outward at a relaxed density, merging with plantations and forest at the edges.
The town is known as a base for visiting Yeak Laom, an almost perfectly round crater lake a short distance east, surrounded by forest. On a map it is one of the most satisfying shapes in the region, a clean circle of water set apart from the angular streets. Smaller lakes and reservoirs also appear within and around town.
A Banlung map poster captures a place in transition between provincial town and highland countryside. The ink-drawn roads dissolve gradually into the terrain, and the water bodies stand out as bold, simple forms. It is a quiet image of a region many travellers remember for its red dust roads, waterfalls and cooler air.
East of town, the volcanic crater lake appears as a near-perfect circle, one of the most recognisable natural shapes in Cambodia and a favourite swimming spot for visitors.
Banlung's streets form a wide, informal grid with generous blocks, reflecting a town that grew quickly as a provincial centre rather than as a dense old settlement.
Smaller lakes and ponds sit within the urban area, giving the map pools of blank space that break up the linework and hint at the plateau's water.

Koteā ko Banlung
Travellers who used Banlung as a gateway to the lakes, waterfalls and forests of Ratanakiri often want something more lasting than photographs. A map of the town, with the circle of Yeak Laom nearby, is a subtle keepsake of that journey.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be personalised, perhaps with the dates of your trip. Choose one of five styles, from Classic black & white to Blueprint or Sand, and download HD files for $9 or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
