Te mapa
Banyuwangi is at the far eastern end of Java, on the shore of the Bali Strait. The town stretches along the coast. Its centre sits a little back from the shore, and roads run north towards the ferry port at Ketapang, where boats cross to Gilimanuk on Bali. Rice fields and small rivers fill the flat land between the town and the hills to the west.
Behind the town rise the volcanic highlands of the Ijen complex. The Ijen crater, known for its turquoise acid lake and the blue flames of burning sulphur at night, attracts visitors from around the world. Banyuwangi is also the home of the Osing people, whose language and traditions are distinct within East Java.
A Banyuwangi map poster reads from west to east: first the green interior, then a dense town, then the straight line of the coast with the open strait beyond it. It shows a place at the edge of an island and at the start of the crossing to the next one.
The coastline runs along the eastern side of the town and forms a clear edge. Beyond it, the narrow strait separates Java from Bali.
North of the centre, the ferry terminal for crossings to Gilimanuk on Bali has piers that reach out into the strait. It is one of Indonesia's busiest crossings.
Between the town and the volcanic highlands lies flat farmland crossed by small rivers and village roads. It gives the western part of the map a fine, even texture.

Koteā ko Banyuwangi
Banyuwangi means different things to different people: home for the Osing community, the starting point for a climb to Ijen, or the last stop before Bali. Each of them can find their own story in this coastal map.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be personalised. There are five styles to choose from, and Blueprint and Sand show the coastline especially well. Buy HD files for $9, or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
