Te mapa
Sukawati is in Gianyar Regency in southern Bali, between Denpasar and Ubud. From above, it is a network of village roads rather than a city grid. Lanes link family compounds and temples, and main roads cross the district towards the coast and the uplands. Between the settlements, rice fields and river gullies form open, irregular spaces.
The area is known for its crafts and performing arts. The Sukawati art market sells textiles, paintings and carvings from across the island, and the surrounding villages have long traditions of painting and wayang shadow puppetry. The coast lies a short distance to the south, and rivers run from the volcanic uplands down through the district towards the sea.
A Sukawati map poster shows Bali's typical settlement pattern. Villages line the roads, compounds sit close together and rice fields fill the gaps. Seen in black and white, the lanes and field edges become a delicate drawing. It suits people who have lived or stayed in Bali and want something more personal than a tourist souvenir.
Narrow roads connect family compounds and temples. They form an organic network that grows along the main routes rather than following a grid.
Open patches of rice fields separate the villages. On the poster they leave calm spaces between the denser clusters of lanes.
Rivers run from the uplands towards the southern coast. Their deep, winding courses cut across the district and shape the roads.
