Te mapa
Denpasar is the administrative heart of Bali, and it looks very different from the island's resort areas. From above it is a low, sprawling city. Its narrow lanes wind between family compounds, and a few straight main roads carry most of the traffic. The Badung River runs north to south through the middle, one of several watercourses that cross the plain towards the sea.
The historic centre forms around Puputan Square, an open field named after the 1906 puputan. That year members of the Badung royal court walked out to face Dutch colonial troops. The square and the streets around it are the most regular part of the map.
To the southeast, the government quarter of Renon has broader avenues and the Bajra Sandhi monument at its centre. Beyond it the city reaches the coast at Sanur. A Denpasar map poster shows the working, residential Bali that most visitors pass through on the way elsewhere.

Broader, more planned streets surround the Bajra Sandhi monument, the provincial offices and a large public field in the southeast of the city.
The Badung River and smaller streams run south across the plain. They form faint lines that lead the eye from the inland neighbourhoods towards the coast.

Koteā ko Denpasar
For people who have lived in Bali, or who return to it year after year, Denpasar is the real town behind the beaches: the market, the ceremonies in the lanes, the ride out to Sanur. This map records that everyday layer of the island.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with the name of a banjar or a wedding date. Then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
