Te mapa
Basirhat sits on the Ichamati River in North 24 Parganas, close to the border with Bangladesh. From above, the river is the obvious anchor: a broad, looping line that the town follows closely. Streets branch away from the water in an irregular pattern, shaped more by old paths and property lines than by any planned grid, and they gather most densely near the banks.
The surroundings are typical of the lower Ganges delta. Small ponds and tanks punctuate the blocks, and beyond the built-up edge the map opens into fields crossed by narrow roads and drainage channels. In black and white this gives the sheet a soft, scattered texture, dense at the centre and thinning gradually toward the open country that surrounds the town on every side.
As the headquarters of its subdivision, Basirhat draws in trade and services from surrounding villages, and the roads reflect that role, converging on the town from several directions. A Basirhat City map poster records this meeting point of river, road and farmland at a scale where individual lanes remain legible, making it a quiet portrait of a working delta town.
The river curves past the town in wide bends, the strongest line on the map and the reference point from which every other street seems to take its direction.
Small water tanks sit inside and between residential areas, appearing as scattered solid shapes that give the street pattern a distinctly deltaic rhythm.
Several routes from the surrounding countryside meet in the town, drawing a loose star of lines that shows Basirhat's role as a local market and administrative centre.
