Te mapa
Beihai sits on a peninsula at the southern tip of Guangxi, pointing west into the Gulf of Tonkin. The sea surrounds the city on the north, west and south, so on a map the street grid ends at the coastline almost everywhere you look. The old town faces the northern harbour, and newer districts spread east and south toward long, straight beaches.
The city opened to foreign trade under an 1876 treaty. The arcaded shophouses of Zhuhai Road, whose colonnaded ground floors shade pedestrians, still line the historic waterfront. To the south, Silver Beach runs along the shore for kilometres. Weizhou Island, a volcanic island, lies well offshore and shows as a small, compact shape when the frame is drawn wide enough.
A Beihai map poster works because the geometry is so clear: a regular grid pressed onto a rounded headland, with harbour basins on one side and open sand on the other. The dense old quarter against the broad new avenues further east reads well in black and white and gives the composition a strong sense of place.
The historic arcade street runs parallel to the northern harbour, a narrow, continuous line of old shophouses that marks the original trading waterfront of the port.
Along the southern shore, Silver Beach forms a long, smooth edge of sand, and the coastal roads behind it give the map a clean southern boundary.
Piers, fishing basins and reclaimed quays break the northern coastline into a jagged, detailed edge, in contrast to the smoother beaches facing south.

Koteā ko Beihai
People tend to remember Beihai by the sea: a summer on Silver Beach, a ferry to Weizhou, seafood by the old harbour. The poster keeps that coastline front and centre, which makes it an easy choice for a bright room or a holiday home.
Set your own title and subtitle, perhaps a trip date or the names of travelling companions, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, then take the $9 HD download or a printed poster with an optional frame.
