Small blocks and closely spaced lanes create a fine, even texture on the map, typical of Phnom Penh's inner districts, where shophouse rows line almost every street.

Te mapa
Boeng Kak Pir, usually written Boeung Kak 2, is an urban sangkat in the Tuol Kouk area of central Phnom Penh. There is no open country here. From above it is a dense mesh of streets, with long numbered roads crossed by smaller lanes and small blocks packed with shophouses and homes.
The quarter takes its name from Boeung Kak, a large lake to the north-east that was mostly filled with sand from the late 2000s onward for redevelopment. On current maps that shows up as a broad stretch of new, sparsely built land where there used to be water. It is a rare case of a city's shape changing within a few years.
A Boeng Kak Pir map poster shows a neighbourhood at street level: fine lines, frequent crossings and the wider arterial roads that link it to the rest of Phnom Penh. It suits people who know the area from daily life rather than from sightseeing.
Small blocks and closely spaced lanes create a fine, even texture on the map, typical of Phnom Penh's inner districts, where shophouse rows line almost every street.
The filled-in Boeung Kak basin nearby appears as an unusually open patch within the city. Its outline remains readable even though the water itself is almost entirely gone.
A few broad roads cut through the finer grid and carry traffic towards the city centre and the riverfront. They give the composition its main directions.

Koteā ko Boeng Kak Pir
For anyone who has lived, studied or worked in Tuol Kouk, this map records a part of Phnom Penh that keeps changing. It captures the streets as they are now, which may matter more a few years from now.
Add your own title, a subtitle in any language you choose and a date in the coordinates line. The five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, let the dense street pattern read as sharp graphics or as something softer.
