Te mapa
Botolan lies on the western coast of Luzon in the province of Zambales. On a map its long coastline faces the West Philippine Sea, while the land rises inland toward the Zambales Mountains. The town centre sits near the coast, and the national road runs north to south along the shore, linking it to neighbouring municipalities.
Botolan's inland territory reaches toward Mount Pinatubo, and the town was among those hit hardest by the volcano's 1991 eruption. Lahar flows reshaped the river valleys in the years that followed. The wide, braided channel of the Bucao River north of the centre still shows that history clearly on the map. The area is also home to Aeta communities.
A Botolan map poster brings together the coastline, the grid of the town centre and the broad river channel in a single frame. Scale it close to focus on the streets around the poblacion, or pull back to show how the town sits between the open sea, the river plain and the rising mountains.
The shoreline runs along the western edge of the town, a long clean line against open water that anchors the whole composition.
North of the centre, the wide braided bed of the Bucao River spreads across the land, shaped by lahar flows after the 1991 Pinatubo eruption.
The national road runs parallel to the shore through the town. It is the main line around which Botolan's streets are organised.

For people from Botolan, the map holds the beach, the river and the town centre in one view. For those who remember the Pinatubo years, it also records a landscape that changed and recovered.
